Hot Rolled Round Cornered Squares (RCS) Bars

Our integrated manufacturing edge gives us the ability to produce steel in a variety of finishes, surface options and profiles

45 RCS to 100 RCS Up to 8 metres 100% ultrasonically tested

OVERVIEW

Product Description

They’re produced free of surface defects/cracks as well as they have uniform internal structure, which is an absolute need for drop forging in the automotive industry. The radius edge also produces a safety feature by eliminating sharp edges. Hot-rolled RCS (Round Corner Square) is used by forging companies for making flanges and fittings. As a top stainless steel hot rolled bar manufacturer India, we always remain particular about the quality of these bars.

Composition limits for the grades rolled as RCS are in the grade reference. The weight calculator gives the weight of the equivalent plain square section, which reads slightly high because the corners are radiused.

Round cornered square against billet

A round cornered square is a hot rolled forging section: the corners are radiused so that the bar can be reheated and upset in a die without a corner cracking, and the section is rolled rather than cast so that the cast structure of the billet it came from has been worked through. It is the feedstock for closed-die forging of flanges, gear blanks and fittings in the 45 to 100 mm sizes. A billet is the same steel one step earlier: cast, larger, and destined for a rolling mill or an open-die press rather than a forging hammer.

Every RCS bar is ultrasonically tested over its full length and grade-confirmed by handheld spectrometer before dispatch, because a forging shop cannot see an internal defect until the die opens. The weight column above is the plain square figure and reads 1 to 2 percent above the rolled section because of the corner radii.

Frequently Asked Questions

01

Which stainless steel RCS bar sizes are published?

Laxcon publishes round cornered square bars in 45, 55, 63, 75, 80, 90 and 100 RCS, in lengths up to 8 metres.

02

How are round-cornered square bars supplied?

Round cornered square bars are supplied hot rolled with a black surface, smooth ends and spot-ground or fully-ground finishing options.

03

Are RCS bars suitable for forging applications?

Round cornered square bars are intended for open-die and closed-die hot forging, including flange and fitting manufacture. The published condition includes 100 percent ultrasonic testing and handheld PMI grade confirmation.

04

How can hot-rolled round-cornered square bars be packed and traced?

Laxcon packs hot rolled round cornered square bars in standard bundles of 500 to 1,000 kg with HDPE or LDPE wrapping and two lifting slings. ISPM 15 wooden boxes and fibre-tube packing are available, and every bundle is marked with heat number, grade, size, and net and gross weight.

05

What should an RFQ for hot-rolled round-cornered square bars include?

An enquiry for hot rolled round cornered square bars is quotable when it states the grade, governing standard, metric size or profile, tolerance, finish or heat-treatment condition, length, quantity, test or inspection requirement, and delivery destination.
