(PDF) ## Inspection Facilities We exercise stringent inspection and quality controls during the manufacturing of our entire product range. Constant checks are done by our metallurgists and samples are taken during the pouring of ingots for comprehensive chemical analyses directly from the ladle. Our inspection facility houses all the latest tools and equipment for minute inspection to ensure nothing but excellence in our products on all parameters. - 01 Optical Emission Spectrometers Sparks a prepared sample and reads its emission spectrum, confirming the full chemistry of a heat against the grade before it is cast. - 02 Mobile Handheld Spectrometers Carried to the bay and the stockyard for positive material identification, so a grade is verified on the piece itself without cutting a sample. - 03 Leco Gas Analyzer Hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen Fuses a sample to measure dissolved gases: the hydrogen that causes flaking, and the oxygen and nitrogen that leave inclusions in the steel. - 04 Carbon apparatus, RadComm detection gate Radiation contamination check Determines carbon on the melt, while a drive-through RadComm gate screens incoming scrap for radioactive contamination before it can reach the furnace. - 05 Automatic Eddy Current Testing Machine Surface and near-surface defects Runs the bar through an encircling coil and reads the disturbance in the induced field, so a crack, seam or lap breaking the surface is found over the whole length without touching the bar. - 06 Automatic Ultrasonic Testing Machine Internal soundness Sends an ultrasonic pulse into the bar and times what comes back, locating the internal voids, inclusions and centre defects that sit too deep for an eddy current to reach. ![Laxcon Steels operator in full personal protective equipment on the shop floor](https://www.laxconsteels.com/images/quality/laxcon-steels-operator-ppe-shop-floor.webp) ## Safety Is A Prime Concern We, at Laxcon Steels, always consider safety a prime concern, be it the safety of employees, equipment, or environment.
